ABOUT CO TECH

CO Tech is a mission-led technology company dedicated to accelerating sustainable industry.

We partner with business networks, government agencies, the UN, and international institutions to scale impact through technology, collaboration, and systems change.

The challenge

For networks tasked with driving sustainable industry, securing active engagement is increasingly difficult:

  • Competition for attention is high - hundreds of platforms vie for business and professional time.

  • Good content isn’t enough - users expect clear, tangible value for their engagement.

  • Tools and training underperform when businesses don’t actively participate.

  • Business action remains limited due to costs and a weak commercial case for sustainability.

  • Progress is hard to track and incentivise towards sustainability / policy goals.

  • Monetising networks is challenging, reducing funds for ongoing work.

Our solution

CO Tech overcomes these challenges by building integrated ecosystems that turn engagement into meaningful action:

  • Single sign-on & interoperability - users enter data once and move effortlessly across networks.

  • Incentive-driven engagement - credits, rankings, and dashboards that turn action into visibility and market advantage.

  • Higher uptake of tools & training - participation improves a company’s standing across the ecosystem.

  • Clear improvement pathways - guiding businesses through step-by-step progress.

  • New revenue opportunities - making it easy to create and scale subscription services.

The Global Industry Landscape

Sustainable industry is shaped by a vast ecosystem - over 20 UN bodies, 300+ standards, and thousands of initiatives working to improve business practices across supply chains over the last 5 decades.

Despite this, progress remains slow:

  • Over 1 billion working people globally earn less than they need (UNGC)

  • Only 4% of the world’s 2000 most influential companies commit to paying a living wage (WBA, 2024)

  • There is “no credible pathway to 1.5°C” (UNEP, 2022)

  • Only 17% of SDG targets are on track (SDG Report, 2024)

Representing 70% of global GHG emissions (IPCC, 2023) and 84% of global GDP (Science Direct, 2022), industry holds the key to accelerating progress.

A Fragmented System

The sustainable industry ecosystem is vast - but it isn’t connected.

  • Hundreds of organisations develop tools, training, and standards independently, creating parallel systems that don’t speak to each other.

  • Data can’t flow, suppliers repeat the same assessments across multiple platforms, and brands must navigate overlapping frameworks.

This fragmentation makes action harder, not easier.

The CO Mission

Our mission is to further a connected and interoperable ecosystem where:

  • Networks reinforce each other rather than duplicate, and as a result, progress is multiplied across industry as a whole.

  • Common standards, infrastructure, and incentives create a stronger business case for ethical and sustainable practices.

This is the foundation of Industry 5.0: industry built for shared global progress.

NOT FOR PROFIT ARM

CO Foundation

CO Foundation is the not-for-profit arm of CO Tech, driving the collaboration and alignment needed for global systems change.

We work with UN agencies, governments, and mission-driven organisations to unite networks, align standards, support open digital infrastructure, and champion the global Industry 5.0 movement.

Where CO Tech builds the technology, CO Foundation provides the convening power, research, and partnerships that enable system-wide progress.

The CO Tech story

2006

COMMON OBJECTIVE (CO) FOUNDATION ESTABLISHED

Founded the CO Foundation (then Ethical Fashion Forum) to unite suppliers, brands, and organisations around more ethical industry practices. Early projects with the International Trade Centre, DFID, the British Council and others connected SME suppliers to new markets  including slum-dweller communities in Kenya and Uganda - and increased associated worker incomes in Ghana by up to tenfold.

2009-15

PIONEERING DIGITAL COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE

Created one of the world’s first online industry communities of practice supporting sustainable business, uniting Intelligence Hub, Supplier Directory, and early digital trade shows. The platform brought together over 10,000 professionals to advance ethical and sustainable industry practices.
